What is more important between networking and college?

When you try to get a job, especially for very good companies, what is more important:

A. Networking

B. The undergrad college you come out ofWhat is more important between networking and college?
I'd have to say networking. A college degree is important, but unless it's a very prestigious university (Ivy leagues and others of similar caliber) who you know will probably play a larger role.

Especially with the recession you can really see that people who've been lucky enough to get jobs usually are attached to the company in some way, while many candidates who have been turned down have well respected degrees.

But I'm not 100% sure, especially when dealing with more prestigious companies. Of course, if you have good connections but not a good degree to back it up, you still may end up going nowhere. Like anything, it's going to be a mix between both criteria and well as other factors.

Good luck! What is more important between networking and college?
Well it would depend on the employer and the job but I'm 18 and I got my job with a big comany (which has room for future promotion) through networking, so I'd say networking is important, as also there are some people that can be employed in a higher position but they have less qualifications, or people with bachelors degrees and masters etc being under challenged and under payed. So really, education is important, but it's not the be all and end all of getting a great job. Networking helps a lot! Hope this helps, and good luck! :)
